Managing Multiple Ontologies and Ontology Evolution in Ontologging

چکیده
Ontologging is an ontology-driven environment to enable next generation knowledge management applications building on Semantic Web technology. In this paper we first present the conceptual architecture underlying Ontologging. Second, we focus on two important challenges for ontology-based knowledge management, namely the supporting multiple ontologies and managing ontology evolution. We will provide a general approach for handling these two essential issues within the Ontologging

Dynamic Ontologies on the Web
We discuss the problems associated with managing ontologies in distributed environments such as the Web. The Web poses unique problems for the use of ontologies because of the rapid evolution and autonomy of web sites. We present SHOE, a web-based knowledge representation language that supports multiple versions of ontologies. We describe SHOE in the terms of a logic that separates data from on...
متن کاملA New Approach to Managing the Evolution of OWL Ontologies
The growing demand for large and complex ontologies present new challenges related to their design, maintenance and evolution. In this paper, we propose an approach to managing the evolution of large OWL ontologies. Unlike conventional approaches that focus on the versioning of entire ontology, we use an evolutionary log to track the lifeline of each axiom or annotation that appears in an evolv...
متن کاملRevising and Managing Multiple Ontology Versions in a Possible Worlds Setting
To date, ontology research seems to have come to an equilibrium: there is a wide variety of theories, methods and tools for extracting, representing, storing and browsing ontologies. Furthermore, ontologies have become an integral part of many academic and industrial applications. There are, however, still deep theoretical problems to be resolved. One fundamental problem is ontology evolution. ...
متن کاملGOMMA: a component-based infrastructure for managing and analyzing life science ontologies and their evolution
BACKGROUND Ontologies are increasingly used to structure and semantically describe entities of domains, such as genes and proteins in life sciences. Their increasing size and the high frequency of updates resulting in a large set of ontology versions necessitates efficient management and analysis of this data. RESULTS We present GOMMA, a generic infrastructure for managing and analyzing life ...
متن کاملCentralized Clustering Method To Increase Accuracy In Ontology Matching Systems
Ontology is the main infrastructure of the Semantic Web which provides facilities for integration, searching and sharing of information on the web. Development of ontologies as the basis of semantic web and their heterogeneities have led to the existence of ontology matching. By emerging large-scale ontologies in real domain, the ontology matching systems faced with some problem like memory con...
